Food: All of us enjoyed the food variety much! In particular, we were not just impressed by the taste of the food but also by the menu variety. There are plenty of things to try here that are both tasty the big menu means you’ll be busy for a while if you want to eventually try everything on the menu

Atmosphere: Project Pollo offers both indoor and outdoor setting. This is welcome since people can choose between the two. Combine that with a decent music selection playing in the background and you can’t go wrong. The only notable bad thing is that they are right off a main street. If you sit outside, the cars zooming by could be a little loud at peak traffic times of the day. It wasn’t loud enough to be a big deal though.

Customer Service: Every 5 to 10 minutes, a member of their team was checking on us which was great. Plus, they were just all very nice and energetic in general. We had very little problems with the staff. Parking could be a challenge here though since a lot of us had trouble finding a space. Obviously we all did eventually but it’s worth noting. For more details on that, please refer to the video review below

Price: For a fast food vegan place, prices are actually in line with what most would expect. In some cases, actually a little less. We had no complaints when it comes to this category regarding the entrees. We did fill that their shakes were a bit over priced though.

Overall: This is a must try if you find yourself in Dallas. They have good food, service and decent prices. Not only does that make them worth checking out. It also makes them a good candidate for repeat visits!

A mixed bag for a variety of reasons

Food: The food was pretter tasty overall. We agreed that they have a unique approach to crafting traditional dishes like burgers and soup in a unique way. Our only criticism is that the portions could be bigger based on the prices (More on this in the price section)

Atmosphere: With Belse being in Uptown, that already to some degree boosts the atmosphere. Couple that with the lighting and style of the restaurant itself and you can’t go wrong! The music was just at the right level where it sets a relaxing mood while at the same time, we could hear each other talk. Truth be told, more restaurants could learn from following Belse’s example in this area.

Customer Service: This is the most controversial category for us. The service by our waiter was great. We never had to ask for refills and he was very attentive to us. They were also generally friendly when it came to us setting a reservation. If the story ended there, they likely would have got a perfect score in this area. Sadly, it doesn’t. They combined all of our tabs into one bill without asking us. When asked if they could separate it, they mentioned that payment is handled online. This proceed was not intuitive at all and it took a total of 23 minutes for us all to pay our tabs. On top of this, one of our members got a cheesecake after paying his tab and went to the front to ask if he could pay for it there. They obliged but did so grudgingly. Truth be told, the option to pay at the front should always be there since it’s an industry standard. If they are going to keep the current system of payment, they need to go back to the drawing board.

Price: Even though food was great, when comparing the price to the portions received, Belse falls flat. It is in uptown but we feel that their prices either need to come down or portions need to go up. It was expensive even by vegan restaurant standards.

Overall: Belse offered great food at high prices in a amazing atmosphere with great to mediocre customer service. Sounds like a mixed bag, right!? That why we said it’s a mixed bag for a variety of reasons! Even stills, it’s definitely worth a try.

Beto & Son Review (Dallas)

An Underwhelming experience

Food: The food wasn’t bad but there wasn’t anything special here either. A few years ago, the restaurant benefited from being one of the few places that offered vegan Mexican food. This time around there is Casa Del Vegano, El Polete, and others that fit in this category. Still, the food was decent. Just not the best on the market at this time.

Atmosphere: Trinity Groves has a very nice nights out feel to it at night and this was amplified with a number of small events going on at the time of our visit. Due to this, the lighting in particular out there was the bests it’s ever been. This is easily the best part of the 4 categories. The music that they were playing was a bit loud but not enough to break the experience.

Customer Service: Honestly, this is one of the WORST experiences we’ve has with a restaurant. While the servers were ok (This is elaborated more in the video review), they currently have a policy that doesn’t allow for parties to reserve seats for people that haven’t arrived yet. This is unacceptable when compared to other restaurants. On top of this, they were not booked to full capacity and had tables to spare but refuse to make them available to us. On top of this, they had a time that they wanted us to leave by. They didn’t actually enforce this but it’s still worth mentioning. They will need to make massive improvements to this area if they wish to stay competitive.

Price: When comparing what we got to other vegan restaurants and normal restaurants, they are a little overpriced. We agreed that their prices should come down or the amount of food that is given should go up. One of those two things should happen for it to be worth the money.

Overall: Average food and great atmosphere lose way to underwhelming pricing and horrible customer service. If they can improve on those last 2, then they can remain competitive. At this time, I could give them a recommendation to try them out. Maybe if you’re ordering to go but as far as a dining experience, there is a lot of work that needs to be done.

Average with a unique premise

In this post, we have a review of Shoal, Sound & Service! Reading, not your style? Watch the video review below!

Food: This was about average. This isn’t a bad thing but most of the restaurants we’ve been to over perform in this area some by comparison, it makes them look like their falling short.

Atmosphere: It was very loud with it being a bar. Some of us are used to bars and some of us aren’t. In general though, it’s loud by a restaurant standard but normal for a bar standard. Just go in with the expectation of being in a bar and you should ok.

Customer Service: This was nearly perfect! We had a very attentive server and the staff was well equipped from an information perspective to answer our questions regarding their food.

Price: We feel that this is the area they could use the most improvement on. As it stands, their food is overpriced. Mainly because the money you’re paying doesn’t match the amounts that you get. For it to be worth it, they would need to either bring the prices down or increase the portions in the entrees

Overall: Our impression is that it’s average with a unique premise. That unique premise being that we have our 1st bar with a FULLY vegan menu which is awesome! Combine that with great service and you have something that’s special. Still, there’s some room for improvement when it comes to their menu.

My Thai Vegan Review! (Irving)

Rating:9.25

In this post, we have a review of My Thai Vegan. Reading, not your style? Watch the video review below!

Food: We found the food to be tasty! Wish I could say more here but that statement sums it up!

Atmosphere: The music was at a reasonable level where we could hear each other talk while also painting a relaxing theme. On top of this, the way they setup the lighting was very ambient. We didn’t go at night but I’d imagine that the lighting would look even more impressive then

Customer Service. We feel that they overdelivered in this area which is refreshing since a lot of resturants lately have been dropping the ball on this. There wasn’t an instance where we ran out of anything or were left unattended.

Price: For the portions we got, it was good deal in terms of price. Some of us actually had some food left over to take home. Their prices were about average for a vegan restaurant but their portions were higher which makes them better then other average priced restaurants here.

Overall: My Thai Vegan is a must try in general but especially if you’re a fan of Thai food, vegan or not.
